Black Hills Nationals Wrestling Tournament 2020

April 6, 2020

Dear Wrestlers, Parents, Coaches, and Fans,

As everyone is well aware, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has changed many of our daily lives.  We at Black Hills Nationals have been following the progress of this virus, and our priority is to make the best decisions possible based on the health and well-being of everyone involved in the tournament including wrestlers, parents, coaches, fans, BHN staff, and officials.

Because of the recent advice of the CDC to limit public gatherings and to support social distancing, we have made the following changes to the tournament:

  • BHN Tournament has been rescheduled to October 23-24, 2020. (We will possibly have a dual meet competition on Sunday Oct. 25 this will be determined at a later date).
  • Friday there will be weigh-ins from 1 pm-5 pm. Ay 6:30pm-8 pm, a wrestling clinic for all participants as well as a continuing education mechanics referee clinic.
  • Saturday will be the individual tournament.

It is hard to know the long-term impacts COVID-19 will have on our country, our communities, and the sport we love.  What we do know is that hope is more important than ever!  Hope and our unified spirit as Americans have helped us through some of our toughest times in history. Each year BHN makes donations and offers scholarships to deserving wrestling clubs and individuals; this year a portion of BHN’s proceeds will be donated directly to the COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund (United Way) to help our fellow Americans in their time of need.

Finally, a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for being a part of the 17th Annual Black Hills Nationals Wrestling Tournament.

Again our tournament has been rescheduled for October 23-24, 2020, in Spearfish, SD, based, of course, on pandemic conditions and medical precautions/guidance.

We hope you all stay safe and healthy.  Love and comfort to you and your families.

Sincerely,

Frank Pavich, BHN Founder and Director
