Since 2003, the Black Hills Nationals is a wrestling tournament has been held annually in the beautiful Spearfish South Dakota, home of the Black Hills State University, and the dynamic Spearfish Canyon.

This iconic Midwestern tournament converges hundreds of wrestling fans and followers from over 17 states nationwide. This event reaches out to competitors of all ages from 6 and under, to an Adult Masters Division for ages 30 and over. Simply, Black Hills Nationals creates an environment for all who strive to strengthen and support the art of wrestling. An average of over 600 participants compete each year.

Frank A. Pavich, a long time wrestling enthusiast and Black Hills Native, is the director and producer of this event. Frank proved his love and dedication, to the sport of wrestling and his hometown, and brought them together, creating the Annual Black Hills Nationals Wrestling Tournament. Frank’s mission was to create an event that not only welcomed healthy competition from accomplished masters, but one that also contributed courage and confidence to its attending youth.
